Who Can Attend?

The FCA National Collegiate Camps are for current or former college varsity/club athletes, enrolled in college. These camps are for those athletes who desire to grow spiritually and start or expand FCA on their college campus. Why so specific?

FCA has had a rich history of ministering to “athletes, coaches and all whom they influence.” However, we see a great need when it comes to athletes at the college level and in an effort to meet this need, we've designed a camp specifically for varsity rostered/club athletes.

These athletes include schools from:

  • NCAA DI, DII, DIII
  • NAIA
  • NJCAA

F.A.Q.'s

I Play A Club Sport, Can I Attend?
On some college campuses, club teams are considered essentially a varsity team. You can attend the Collegiate Camp as long as your college/university does not have a varsity team in that sport.

Are Intramural Athletes Considered Varsity/Club?
Varsity athletes are currently on a roster with their college and recognized as an official college sports team by their athletic department. In the absence of a particular sport, some colleges offer "club teams". When a team competes against other colleges they are considered a "club team."

Can I Attend If I'm A High School Graduate, Entering College?
You can attend if you are a high school graduate entering college, being at least 18 years old at the start of camp and being accepted into a varsity collegiate program the coming fall.

I'm an FCA intern at a local FCA office, can I attend?
Those interning at an FCA field office during the time of the collegiate camp can attend the camp on a case by case basis. There is the opportunity to serve as camp staff.

Can Athletes Receive a Scholarship?

FCA can underwrite the actual and necessary expenses of athletes to go to an FCA Collegiate Camp.
As long as FCA alone is issuing the scholarship and no funds are given directly to the athlete and no institution is underwriting the expense, compliance should be maintained.

16.10.1.3 Service or Religious Organization Encampments.
Nationally recognized service organizations and religious groups may underwrite the actual and necessary expenses of student-athletes attending such encampments. Neither the institution nor an athletically related organization may underwrite such expenses.
(Revised: 4/27/00 effective 8/1/00, 4/2/10 - from the NCAA Manual)

FCA staff are encouraged to provide some criteria by which scholarships are given. For example, setting a family income level as criteria for determining a scholarship could ensure no athlete could claim preferential treatment.

Coaches and athletes are encouraged to work with their collegiate compliance officers if they have any questions.
